Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

A calm picture of three pebbles balanced atop each other

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) works by looking at your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours and the interplay between them.  It involves techniques which are learned and practiced and is a more structured approach.  Working collaboratively together, we would look at the negative automatic thoughts which can be triggered in certain situations and which influence how you feel.  We would work on observing and challenging these thoughts and the behaviours that result - working towards making changes.  The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends CBT for a range of issues including anxiety, depression, panic attacks and much more.
